During Mr. Torgerson’s tenure in Miami, he has taught elementary music at Palmetto Elementary and Phillis Wheatley Elementary. He has also been band director at Palm Springs Middle School and Miami Palmetto Senior High School. Between teaching positions, he completed a Masters of Music from Florida International University, in Jazz Performance. Working as a Graduate Assistant with the FIU Marching Band, alongside Director Barry Bernhardt, Mr. Torgerson was a member of the Jazz Program and performed with the multiple ensembles including: Studio Jazz Band, Latin Jazz Band, Jazz Combos, and the FIU Wind Ensemble.  

 

Mr. Torgerson’s responsibilities at Coral Reef include two concert bands, a jazz band, chamber classes, and the Barracuda Marching Band. He is an active member of FBA and has served on the District 16 board for the past three years.
